Independent Bookstore Day!

Independent Bookstore Day!

Today we are celebrating Independent Bookstore Day, a day that honors locally owned bookstores and the important role they play in connecting readers, writers, and communities.

That is especially meaningful to us because Willa’s Bookstore began with a simple need. When founder Cecilia Wichmann was preparing to release her first novel, The Ticket, she wanted a professional way to offer pre-orders online. That idea led to creating an online bookstore.

What started with one book quickly grew into something bigger. Independent authors were invited to place their books in the store, with one special requirement: every copy had to be signed by the author.

Today, Willa’s Bookstore proudly features around 15 authors and continues to grow. Books are kept in stock and ready to ship quickly, while local events in East Texas help introduce these authors to new readers.

This August, we are also launching Willa’s Book Talks, a new podcast featuring conversations with authors, their stories, and their writing journeys.

Thank you for supporting independent bookstores, independent authors, and the love of reading.

Happy reading.
